SKOPJE, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The total resident population in North Macedonia has dropped by 9.2 percent over the past 20 years, according to the latest census result released here on Wednesday.
The total resident population registered in the country is 1,836,713, which is 185,834 less than in the year 2002, Apostol Simovski, director of the State Statistical Office (SSO) told a press conference.
Plus the non-resident population, the total population in the country stood at 2,097,319, according to the statistics.
Women in North Macedonia outnumber men by a ratio of 1,000 to 984, according to the results presented by Simovski.
Meanwhile, the population density in the country is 72.2 persons per square meter.
The census, the country's largest statistical operation in two decades, was conducted between Sept. 5 and Sept. 30, 2021.
