THREE teenagers have admitted killing a dog walker who was found dead hours after he was badly beaten in a park.

The girl and two boys — all 15 and who cannot be named — were told to expect a custodial sentence for the manslaughter of John Hackett, 36.

The coach driver was set upon after a row — footage of which was shared online.

Relatives said he staggered home, called police and went to hospital.

But his disabled mum later found him dead at the top of the stairs of their home in Nuneaton, Warks, last April.

The teens yesterday denied murder but admitted manslaughter — pleas accepted by the Crown.

Peter Grieves-Smith, prosecuting, told Warwick crown court: “The family of John Hackett have been spoken to and they have understood our decision.”

Renewing conditional bail for all three teenagers, Judge Andrew Lockhart said: "You have pleaded guilty to a really serious offence here today.

"But you will get credit for that plea of guilty, which will reduce the sentence that would otherwise have been passed upon you.

"Your sentence will be reduced by an appropriate margin that the judge will decide."

The judge added: "This is plainly, as you will understand, a really important matter - not just for you but for the public as a whole.

"In granting you bail I am giving you absolutely no indication other than you will all go to custody for this. You must prepare for that, as must your families."

Their sentencing will be on March 15.

As the case ended, a woman, thought to be a relative of John, said: “They’ve ruined my life.”
