KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah convey their greetings to Christians celebrating Easter. In a post on the Istana Negara Facebook page, Their Majesties expressed hope that Christians would be blessed with peace and happiness.
“May this event be filled with peace and happiness to all who observe it,” said Their Majesties, who also extended their well-wishes to Christians who observed Good Friday yesterday.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also extended his greetings to Christians celebrating Easter this weekend.
In a Facebook posting, he said Malaysia practised religious freedom and diversity as one big family with respect for each other.
“This is Malaysia, a country that is unique, harmonious and multi-cultural ... like pieces of thread being knitted and woven together to finally become the perfect beautiful fabric for a prosperous Malaysian Family,” he said.
In another post, the Prime Minister also wished a joyous Vishu festival to the Malayalee community in the country.
“May the new year celebration for the Malayalee community bring happiness and peace as well as strengthen our ties,” he added.
