MADELEINE McCann prime suspect Christian B is begging to be moved from a prison dubbed Germany’s Alcatraz.

The convicted paedophile, 44, who German investigators believe murdered Madeleine in 2007, is currently locked up in solitary confinement at Oldenburg prison near Bremen.

But Sun Online can reveal the 44-year-old has been constantly whining about his incarceration and demanding to be moved.

A source said Christian B has been "complaining pretty much since the day he arrived".

"The ironic thing is that he was moved in the first place because he was unhappy about his treatment at the hands of guards inside his former prison," they said.

“He has been groaning that this place is worse and that he is not being treated in the right way. He desperately wants to move somewhere else.

“He is also being kept in total isolation and away from the other prisoners, many of whom would love to get their hands on him and teach him a lesson.

“There are a lot more violent offenders in Oldenburg than most German prisons so the risk to Christian is far higher.

“He’s a target for the other inmates.”

The prison in north west Germany is covered in CCTV cameras – with doors and windows made from specially reinforced safety glass so jail guards can keep a close eye on the dangerous inmates.

The high-tech facility, which is surrounded by a 22ft wall, is deemed inescapable, apart from one incident where a prisoner managed to flee after making friends with a guard.

Speaking to The Mirror earlier this month, Christian B’s lawyer, Friedrich Fuelscher, declined to comment on why he had been transferred.

But it comes after he fell and broke his ribs in a scuffle with guards at the grim Wolfenbüttel prison near Braunschweig.

Previously he was held in Kiel but was reportedly unhappy because he was being bullied by other inmates for his alleged link to the McCann case.

Christian B, a prolific burglar, who also has previous convictions for sex crimes against young girls, was named as the prime suspect last year.

But he has denied any involvement in the alleged snatching of the child.

Police said he was regularly living in the Algarve between 1995 and 2007 and had jobs in the area, including in catering, but also committed burglaries in hotels and dealt drugs.

He's currently serving seven years for the rape of an elderly woman in Praia da Luz in Portugal’s Algarve coast in 2005, who was attacked in her own home.

He was arrested 12 years after that attack.

Madeleine vanished from the same town in 2007 while on holiday with her parents Kate and Gerry and her siblings.

       LAUGH AT THE LAW

This comes as a cartoon was found inside Christian B's prison cell appearing to mock prosecutors as it shows the cops the cops asking a clairvoyant for help.

The cartoon drawing, allegedly sketched by Christian B and published by BILD, appears to show German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters stood in court holding a €5 bill while asking a clairvoyant for advice on the case.

The clairvoyant - understood to be Michael Schneider who has given the cops coordinates of where he thinks Madeleine was buried - is seen dressed in orange with curly red hair looking into a glass ball.

The sketch shows the rest of the court sleeping while the suspect looks surprised with a question mark above his head.

German officials are continuing to compile evidence against Christian B, who became the prime suspect in Madeleine's disappearance in June 2020.

So far, the suspect has not been questioned or charged in the case.
