Girls outperform boys in Abbottabad SSC exam results

       ABBOTTABAD: Girl students outshone boys by securing all top positions in both the science and arts groups in the annual matriculation results announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Abbottabad, on Saturday.

       In the science group, Sidra Saeedur Rehman of Jinnah Jam-i-Public School & College, Haripur, clinched the first position with 1,161 marks.

       Her fellow student, Areeba Jadoon secured the second position with 1,159 marks. The third position was taken by Zufishan Ahmed of Tameer-i-Wattan Public School & College, Mansehra, scoring 1,158 marks.

       In the arts group, students from government schools claimed the top honours. Areeba Nazir of Girls Higher Secondary School, Sarai Saleh, secured the first position with 1,069 marks. Anam Bibi from Government Girls High School, Sarai Naimat Khan, stood second with 1,050 marks, while Walija Khan of Girls High School, Bagra, took the third position with 1,044 marks.

       The overall pass percentage was reported as 60pc for 9th grade and 80pc for 10th grade.

       The results were announced during a ceremony held at the BISE auditorium. The event was presided over by board chairman Abdul Majid Khan.

       School heads, teachers, parents, and students were present at the ceremony, which also featured the distribution of awards.

       Prize money for science group toppers was set at Rs70,000, Rs60,000, and Rs50,000 for first, second, and third positions, respectively. In the arts group, toppers received Rs40,000, Rs30,000, and Rs20,000.

       On the occasion, board chairman Abdul Majid also announced that beginning in 2026, results for classes 9 and 11 will be compiled through e-marking. “Additionally, question papers will be structured in alignment with question numbers on the answer sheet.”

       He urged school heads to begin preparing students for this new examination format.
