A South Chicago man was charged with murder and ordered held without bail on Thursday in the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man in the West Pullman neighborhood in May.
Larry Scott, 32, of the 8500 block of South Crandon Avenue, was arrested at O’Hare International Airport Wednesday after he was extradited from Minneapolis and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Travis Willis, 37, Chicago police said.
Cook County Judge David Navarro ordered Scott be held without bail Thursday.
At the bond hearing, prosecutor James Murphy said Scott and Willis were drinking on a porch in the 11800 block of South Lafayette Avenue on May 1 when they began fighting. The fight escalated, and Scott threatened Willis before pulling out a gun and shooting him in the head, Murphy said.
Willis was transported to a hospital and was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Murphy said witnesses identified Scott as the shooter, and nearby surveillance video recorded the shooting.
Scotts faces up to a life sentence. He is expected back in court on Aug. 18.
