IPOH: Ramadan bazaars will go on as planned in the city despite the rising Covid-19 cases, says mayor Datuk Rumaizi Baharin.
He said the bazaars would conform strictly to standard operating procedures (SOP).
"Bazaars will still be held during the fasting month but with some changes and added rules depending on the current Covid-19 SOP," he said after attending a Perak State Agriculture Development Corporation corporate responsibility programme at Taman Tasek Damai here Wednesday (Feb 9).
"A meeting to discuss these changes will be held soon," he added.
Ramadan was expected to start in early April.
Rumaizi also said the city council would try to ensure that every interested trader gets a spot to operate.
"We have received many applications from traders.
"We will decide if there is a need to add more bazaar locations later," he said.
On Jan 15, state rural development, entrepreneur development and cooperative committee chairman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin said traders wishing to participate in Ramadan bazaars this year will be assured of a trading spot.
