SEREMBAN: Police are looking for a motorcyclist who acted in a threatening manner along Jalan Temiang-Pantai near here, in an incident caught in an 11-second dashcam recording that has gone viral.
OCPD Asst Comm Nanda Maarof said the suspect would be investigated for being a public nuisance to road users.
He said the incident was believed to have taken place at around noon on Sunday.
“A group of motorcyclists had stopped and parked their motorcycles along the emergency lane of the stretch.
“One of the individuals can be seen threatening to throw an object at the car from which the recording was made, when it drove past,” he said in a statement yesterday.
ACP Nanda said the case would be investigated under Section 48 (1) of the Road Transport Act for causing an obstruction by parking a vehicle on the road.
The individual will also be probed under Section 268 (1) of the Penal Code for being a public nuisance, which carries a fine of up to RM400.
Those with information on the case can contact Insp Fadzilah at 016-289 5801.
When contacted by mStar, a man who claimed to have been the one who uploaded the clip on social media said he was heading to Jelebu when the incident happened.
The man, in his 30s, said he was in the front passenger seat while his wife was driving. Their two children were seated behind.
“As we approached the group, I asked my wife to sound the horn as a man was standing in the way.
“It was not our intention to pick a fight with him. It was just to let him know that it was dangerous for him to be standing there on the road,” he said, adding that he was shocked by the manner in which the person retaliated.
The man also said he decided against stopping as he was worried for the safety of his family.
“So I decided to share the video to remind others to be careful when using the stretch.”
