YONG PENG: An early morning fire broke out at the Yong Peng public market at Jalan Meng Seng here at 2.29am on Thursday (March 31).

       Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Station chief Asyraf Nur Mohd Yusuf said six firemen from the station were deployed to the scene.

       “Fifteen shop lots for petty traders inside the market building were damaged in the fire," he said in a statement Thursday.

       Asyraf said the fire damaged 80% of the building and also destroyed a motorcycle.

       He said there were no casualties in the incident and the operation to extinguish the blaze ended at around 9.05am on Thursday.
