KAJANG: A 35-year-old woman was injured in an attack by her neighbour's dog in a condominium parking lot at Batu 9, Cheras.

       Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaid Hassan said the incident occurred at 5.43pm on Saturday (June 11).

       "Initial investigations found that the woman was protecting her children from the dog.

       "She sustained a minor abrasion on her right forearm. She was treated at Hospital Kajang and given further treatment at Hospital Serdang's animal bite clinic," he said when contacted on Sunday (June 12).

       The dog belonged to the victim's 38-year-old neighbour, who did not have a proper licence for the animal, he added.

       "We believe the incident occurred when the dog owner accidentally let go of its leash.

       "We are investigating under Section 289 of the Penal Code," he said.

       ACP Mohd Zaid said those who want to keep dogs as pets at any premises including residential areas must obtain approval from the respective local authorities.

       "The pet should also be under complete supervision to avoid any unwanted incident," he added.
