Law enforcement officials said Saturday they located a silver Mercedes that was last operated by Pedro Manuel Argote, a man suspected of killing a Maryland circuit court judge.
Argote is suspected of fatally shooting Washington County Circuit Judge Andrew Wilkinson, who oversaw Argote’s custody proceedings. Police are still searching for him. A local resident discovered his car around 11 a.m. in “a wooded area” near Williamsport, Md., Saturday, said Washington County Sheriff Brian K. Albert.

On Thursday, Wilkinson awarded full legal custody of Argote’s four children to his estranged wife, Eugenia, and ordered Argote have no contact with any of his children. Hours later, Argote allegedly shot Wilkinson multiple times in the driveway of his Hagerstown, Md., home. The judge’s wife and son were at home at the time, according to previous reporting from The Washington Post. Wilkinson was transported to the hospital, where he was declared dead.

Argote had no prior criminal record or history of physical violence that the sheriff’s office was aware of, Albert said. Police responded a few times in recent years to verbal domestic disturbances at Argote’s home, he said.
The U.S. Marshals Service announced Friday it launched an interstate manhunt for Argote, 49. They said he has ties to multiple locations beyond Maryland, including Brooklyn and Long Island; Tampa and Clearwater, Fla.; Columbus, Ind.; and “unknown cities in North Carolina.” They are offering at $10,000 reward.
“We’re going to catch this guy,” Albert said. “It’s just a matter of time.”
Argote is 5-foot-7 and 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
