IPOH (Bernama): Three individuals including two foreigners were charged separately at the Magistrate’s Court here on Thursday (Oct 14) with trafficking 62kg of cannabis and 161g of "Yaba" pills.
Narayanan Loganathan, 42, from India; Puteri Adelia, 21, from Indonesia; and local woman M. Hemamalani, 26; nodded in understanding after the charges were read out to them before Magistrate Nur Melati Diana Abdul Wahab.
According to the charge sheet, Narayanan was alleged to have trafficked 62kg of cannabis at a house in Bandar Lahat Mines here at 5.15pm on Oct 4, while Puteri Adelia and Hemamalani, along with another person still at large, were charged with trafficking 161gm of Yaba pills at 5.30pm in another house in the same area and on the same day.
They were charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death penalty.
