KLANG: A gaffe by a printing company has left PKR’s Kuala Selangor division chief Juwairiya Zulkifli red in the face.
The party's name, besides being in Bahasa Melayu, Jawi and Mandarin, on several billboards in Kuala Selangor, was also in Hindi.
Apparently, it was intended to be in Tamil but it was messed up by the printer.
When contacted, Juwariya said it was the people from the division that had ordered the billboards.
"The matter has already been settled," she said.
Meanwhile, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari's special officer Gunaraj George, who handles Indian issues in the state, said the instruction given by the division to the printer would probably have been to have the signage in Bahasa Melayu, Jawi, Chinese and "Indian" language.
"The printer may have looked up, perhaps on some free translation site, Indian language and since Hindi is the official language of India, the Hindi translation popped up," Gunaraj said.
Meanwhile, Sinar Harian had quoted Juwairiya as saying that immediate amendments were being made.
"I am truly regretful over the issue and apologise for the mistake which should have not happened," said Juwariya, who is the Bukit Melawati assemblyman and Amirudin's political secretary.
