KOTA TINGGI: A man died on the spot after being involved in an accident between the car he was driving and a lorry on Friday (April 29) at Jalan Kulai-Kota Tinggi near here.

       Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue station chief Norahpandi Samsudin said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at around 1.55pm.

       "The incident between Perodua Axia and the lorry took place in front of an educational college located along the stretch," he said in a statement.

       Norahpandi said 13 firefighters from the Kota Tinggi and Kulai Fire and Rescue stations were deployed to the scene.

       He said one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) vehicles were used in the operations led by senior officer II, Mohd Rafi Mohd Nor.

       "The driver of the car was identified as Mohamad Izzat Najmi Mohd Zain," said Norahpandi.

       He said the 25-year old victim was pinned in the driver’s seat, while the female passenger, who was the victim’s wife, 25-year old Azra Nurmazmirab Mazlan, was injured.

       Norahpandi said the 42-year male lorry driver, Wong Wei Hua, escaped unhurt.

       He said Mohamad Izzat’s body was handed over to police for further action while Azra Nurmazmirab was sent to hospital for treatment.

       The operations ended at around 3.10pm.
