BUTTERWORTH: Police “gatecrashed” a birthday celebration- cum-drug party at a luxury condominium here, arresting 11 people, including three Vietnamese women.

       Five of them tested positive for drugs.

       The raid was carried out by the anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division.

       Penang CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rahimi Ra’ais said the 11, aged between 19 and 35, had been remanded until tomorrow.

       He said the group was partying and playing loud music at the rented unit in Jalan Prai here prior to the 11pm bust on Sunday.

       “We moved in after receiving complaints from the public,” he said, adding that the party-goers were there to celebrate the birthday of one of the women.

       “The unit was rented by the three women along with two of their friends.

       “They had invited other guests to the party,” he said.
