A man died early Tuesday in a workplace accident at a home improvement store in Fairfax County, county police said.
Paul Gato, 43, of Woodbridge, Va., died after being trapped beneath a forklift that fell over on its side shortly after midnight at the Home Depot store in the 2800 block of Merrilee Drive, police said. The site is in the Merrifield area.

He was operating the forklift to unload supplies from a delivery truck when it fell, according to police. The truck driver heard a load crash, saw Gato beneath the forlift, and summoned help, police said.
They said no indication was found of any foul play. The matter remained under investigation, they said, and an autopsy is to be conducted.
It was not clear why the forklift fell over.
