A PENSIONER, 81, suffered a brain haemorrhage after fighting off a “smirking” alleged sex attacker who forced his way into her home, a court has heard.

Soufyan Yahyaoui, 41, of Tunbridge Wells, has pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on the woman in Kent.

But he has denied trespassing into her home intending to carry out a sexual attack and also sexually assaulting her.

At the start of his trial at Maidstone Crown Court, the jury was told how the alleged victim's neighbours found the elderly woman "seriously injured", reports Kent Online.

Prosecutor Francesca Levett said: "This case involves a violent sexual assault and the Crown say it was committed by this defendant on an elderly lady, leaving her with serious injuries."

The alleged victim had been home alone, watching the news, before going upstairs, the court was told.

Ms Levett added: "As she did, she heard a ring at her door and answered after putting her pet dog on a chain.

"She opened the door and saw the defendant who said: 'I have just come to check on you' as he flicked his cigarette ash inside her door.

"She described his voice as slurred, giving her the impression he was either on drink or drugs.

"He had a smirky grin on his face and kept falling against an outside cupboard. She told him she had to get on and closed the door."

Ms Levett alleged that Yahyaoui then "burst in" to the woman's house.

She was allegedly grabbed by the shoulder and pushed against her stair rail.

The prosecutor added: "She attempted to push him out of her house, shouting for him to get out and told him she was going to call the police but as she turned she was pushed again.

"The next thing she recalls is coming round after being knocked out and being draped half on her sofa and half on the floor."

       DNA ON CLOTHES

The jury was told that the woman had a large bump on her head, bruising and friction burns on her body - and her jumper had been torn.

Her alleged attacker was described as later being seen standing over the "dishevelled and hysterical" woman.

The injured pensioner shouted to a neighbour: "He's hurt me… he's tried to hurt me."

The jury was told that Yahyaoui had taken her dog away and locked it in the conservatory.

It's also alleged that he removed her phone before undressing her to carry out the sex attack.

She was treated in hospital for bleeding on the brain.

Yahyaoui's DNA was found on the pensioner's clothes, and on the insole of his red Nike trainers - which were found in her house.

Several minutes before the start of the trial at Maidstone, Yahaoui admitted GBH, and causing her brain haemorrhage, the court was told.

During the police investigation, the arrested man had told cops he had been invited inside the woman's house.

He denied pushing the OAP or committing a sex attack.

Yahyaoui also told police that she had been "fit and well" when he left her house.

       The trial continues.
