KUALA LUMPUR: Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim has denied the allegation made by Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan regarding influence to support the government.

       Mohd Azizi denied giving any invitation to the Tasek Gelugor MP to discuss any offer to support the Prime Minister.

       "That is actually serious slander. We only bumped into one another while I was having coffee at an Arabic cafe in a hotel in the city," he said when contacted on Thursday. (March 21).

       Mohd Azizi was asked to comment on allegations that he had tried to influence Wan Saiful to support the government by offering him various inducements.

       Earlier, Wan Saiful asked Parliament to form a committee to investigate a claim that two other Perikatan Nasional MPs had tried to influence his conduct as a lawmaker and express support to the government

       Citing Standing Order 80A, Wan Saiful said that he wanted the committee to be formed to investigate and punish the other two MPs.

       Wan Saiful claimed that among the offers, which also involved Parliamentary allocations, was a project worth RM2mil, payment for his wife's medical expenses, legal costs to face charges in court and other unspecified token amounts as well as to drop his legal cases in court.

       Azizi said during his meeting with Wan Saiful, the latter had asked him what was the benefit that he received after supporting the Prime Minister.

       "He also asked if his court case would be dropped if he supported the prime minister.

       "I simply answered that I received the same allocation as other Government MPs and as for his court case, it is not within my jurisdiction or to provide any answers or guarantees," added Mohd Azizi.
