KUALA LUMPUR: There were 287 unnatural sex cases between 2019 and November of this year, says Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff.

The Deputy Women and Family Development Minister said based on official statistics, the highest incidence was in Selangor with a total of 94 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (39), Johor (37), Sabah (18) and Sarawak (17).

"Based on police statistics, there were 287 cases involving crimes against the order of nature involving people aged 18 between 2019 and November of this year," said Siti Zailah.

She said this when answering a supplementary question from Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli (PAS-Dungun) during Question Time.

Wan Hassan had asked the ministry to reveal the statistics of unnatural sex involving lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender (LGBT) among youth or under-aged teens.

On this, Siti Zailah said that there were 290 victims, of which 208 victims were under the age of 16, while 82 victims were aged between 16 years old and 18 years old.

"For the breakdown based on gender, 114 of them are male and 176 of them are female," she added.

She said that the Ministry always viewed issues related to sexual matters among the public seriously, especially pertaining to children and women.

"Cases of rape, under-aged sex and incest are serious and heavy crimes that require the cooperation from all parties to prevent such issues," she said, adding that the Ministry has devised several strategic long term plans and committees to address such matters.
