Covid-19 infections down to 6,145 new daily cases

       PETALING JAYA: Covid-19 cases are clearly on a decline with 6,145 new cases recorded in the latest 24-hour span.

       Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 6,133 of these new cases were locally transmitted while 12 were imported.

       “Of the 6,145 cases reported yesterday, 142 cases (2.3%) were in Categories 3, 4 and 5 while 6,003 cases (97.7%) belonged in Categories 1 and 2,” he said in a statement yesterday.

       The categories range from one to five in terms of severity, with five the most serious and needing ventilator support.

       Dr Noor Hisham also said there were 9,231 total recoveries recorded yesterday.

       He added that there were 682 cases in intensive care, with 350 requiring ventilator support.

       As at yesterday, the country’s infectivity rate was at 0.88, with the highest recorded in Putrajaya (1.06), followed by Negri Sembilan (1.03) and Kuala Lumpur (1.0).

       All the other areas recorded an infectivity rate of below one.

       There were also nine new clusters, bringing the number of active clusters nationwide to 676.
