PETALING JAYA: A special officer to Datuk Guandee Kohoi, who accompanied the Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister during the special Parliament sitting, has passed away due to Covid-19.
Datuk Jaimin Samitah, the deputy minister's special functions officer, died around 4pm in Kuala Lumpur on Monday (Aug 9).
It is understood that he was part of the minister's entourage for the special sitting.
Last Friday (Aug 6) The Health Ministry confirmed more Covid-19 cases linked to Parliament, bringing the number of infections related to the recent special sittings to 85.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said at least six cases are believed to be of the Delta variant based on PCR tests.
The source said Jaimin was initially negative for Covid-19 following the mass screening conducted on MPs and parliament staff.
However, he started to develop symptoms and tested positive later.
Condolences have also poured in on Star Sabah's Facebook page from his friends and other party supporters.
