JOHOR BARU: The investigation papers in a bullying case involving Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Muar students have been handed to Bukit Aman.
Muar OCPD Asst Comm Zaharudin Rasip said the investigation papers involving the five MRSM Form Four students were now with Bukit Aman's prosecution and legal unit.
“We are now awaiting further (instructions). The case was referred to Bukit Aman as it has become a matter of public interest," he said when met after attending the Johor Police Family Association fun cycle programme on Friday (Dec 31).
ACP Zaharudin said investigations only involved the students and that so far, no action had been taken against them after their remand period ended.
“At present, I cannot say what kind of action has been taken by the institution against the students as it is currently the school holidays,” he said.
On Dec 15, five teenage boys were arrested for allegedly bullying and injuring a 14-year-old student.
They were arrested in separate locations in Selangor, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Baru.
The senior students were apparently unhappy with the attitude of the victim and his friends.
The alleged bullying incident on Dec 9 left the victim with injuries.
A report was lodged on Dec 14.
Police have classified the case under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting, which carries a jail term of up to two years, a fine or both, upon conviction.
