PETALING JAYA: The producer of the controversial film titled Babi was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with participating in film-making and displaying posters without a licence from the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas).
Toh Han Boon, 35, claimed trial when the charge was read out to him before Magistrate Muhammad Iskandar Zainol here yesterday.
Muhammad Iskandar allowed the accused bail of RM5,000 and the case was fixed for mention on Oct 14.Last December, Persatuan Seniman Malaysia (Seniman) lodged a police report against Babi.
Police reports were also lodged against the film’s director Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, alleging that the film contained racist elements. — Bernama
