KOTA KINABALU: Evacuations are still being carried out in many parts of Sabah as rains continue to pour in areas such as Kudat on Sunday (Jan 2).
As of noon Sunday, the number of evacuees had increased to 1,161 people from at least six districts - Kota Marudu, Kudat, Paitan, Beluran, Telupid and Sandakan.
According to the Kudat Fire and Rescue station, evacuations were being carried out but the full details were yet to be known due to a lack of telecommunication access at several areas.
Firemen as well as other rescue workers are at Kg Timbangan Matunggong in Kudat carrying out rescue works.
It is also learnt that downpours continues in Kudat and other northern parts of Sabah.
Scattered rainfall was also reported in Kota Belud, Tuaran and Telupid.
