A bicyclist was fatally injured Friday in Montgomery County in what the police described as a collision with a dump truck.

       The crash occurred at S. Westland Drive and S. Frederick Avenue in the Gaithersburg area about 8:30 a.m., police said.

       The bicyclist, a 61-year-old woman, was riding west across the northbound lanes of S. Frederick Avenue at the crosswalk, police said.

       The truck driver was turning right from westbound S. Westland onto northbound S. Frederick when the collision occurred, the police said.

       The bicyclist was taken to a hospital where she died, police said.

       Her name was withheld until relatives could be notified, said police, who are continuing to investigate.
