DATUK Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic) was paid almost RM30,000 as the special adviser to former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

In a parliamentary written reply, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that Ahmad Faizal was paid a pro-rated monthly income of RM27,227.20 and was given a notice of service termination with one month’s salary.

“The position does not involve payment of pension,” he told Lim Lip Eng (PH-Kepong), who asked Ismail Sabri to state the total salary received by the Tambun MP.

Ismail Sabri said Ahmad Faizal was appointed as an adviser with ministerial status to advise the prime minister on issues related to community networking.

“He was entrusted to create close ties between the government and community leaders, to improve the people’s understanding of government policies through effective communication channels, and to improve the government delivery system from the socio-economic aspects,” he added.

Ahmad Faizal was appointed as the special adviser to Muhyiddin on Aug 5. He is now the Youth and Sports Minister under Ismail Sabri’s administration.
