ALOR GAJAH: The flood prone police station at Lubok China needs to be relocated to an elevated area, says Alor Gajah OPCD Supt Arshad Abu.

The police station was submerged with only its rooftop visible during a massive flood on Dec 18, last year.

Supt Arshad said the losses incurred was estimated at more than RM200,000.

“Furniture and equipment at the station were also badly damaged in the flood and took a while to replace,” he said after launching the district-level Police’s Day celebration here on Friday (March 25).

Supt Arshad said a proposal to relocate the station had been sent to the relevant authority.

However, there is still no news whether the proposal has been approved or rejected.

Earlier, Supt Arshad received two small boats to be placed at the Lubok China police station.

The boats were presented by the Home Ministry to be used for rescue missions during floods.

Supt Arshad said these new boats are more suitable for the rescue mission due to the lightweight and compactness.

“We had received a boat for the same purpose earlier, but it was bulky and was unable to be used to ferry evacuees in certain submerged locations,” he added.
