PETALING JAYA: MCA has deployed party members, including its Crisis Relief Squad to immediately head out to help flood victims, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said he had also proposed that the 68th MCA general assembly end earlier at 1.30pm Sunday (Dec 19) so that those present could also help flood victims.

In his policy speech, Dr Wee also expressed his concern for flood victims across the country.

“I have already deployed party members, including the MCA Crisis Relief Squad (CRSM) team, to immediately go and help the flood victims,” he said in a Facebook post Sunday.

Dr Wee added that Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid had also asked Umno members to do the same, and, in his capacity as Barisan Nasional chairman, also instructed the BN secretary-general to lead the team in the flood relief mission.

Earlier, Dr Wee had said, in a Facebook post Sunday (Dec 19), that the opening ceremony of the 68th general assembly had gone smoothly with Ahmad Zahid officiating at San Choon Hall in Wisma MCA in Kuala Lumpur.

"The assembly was held both physically and virtually while adhering to the SOPs in place and it proceeded smoothly according to the schedule," the Transport Minister said in his Facebook post.

In the policy speech, Dr Wee also touched on several things such as the spirit of solidarity in BN; the rise of MCA; the economy; the Malaysian family; Undi18 and also the 15th General Election.

Also present in the assembly were MIC secretary-general RT Rajasekaran; PBRS secretary-general Richard Kastum and BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir and the presidents of Friends of BN.
