PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's feud on Facebook continued on Friday (Feb 11) with both former prime ministers labelling each other a "traitor".

       Muhyiddin had called Najib the "true traitor" of Umno as his 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal had brought down the party.

       "He (Najib) let the 1MDB scandal get too big and ugly until a majority of the people hated Umno.

       "He even sacked me as the deputy prime minister in 2015 because I called for a transparent investigation into 1MDB," Muhyiddin said on Facebook.

       However, Najib quickly hit back at Muhyiddin and denied that the Bersatu president was sacked because of the 1MDB scandal.

       "Unless Mukhriz Mahathir lied in court, he (Muhyiddin) was fired as the deputy prime minister in July 2015 because he was conspiring with Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Mukhriz since 2014 — long before 1MDB became an issue,” he said in a Facebook post.

       He also shared a news report of Mukhriz reportedly admitting the matter in 2017.

       Najib added that almost a year later, Muhyiddin was fired from Umno in May 2016 for violating party discipline after he attended an event with the opposition in March 2016.

       He then shared a link to a news report that featured a photo of Muhyiddin sitting next to Dr Mahathir at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur on March 4, 2016. Dr Mahathir had resigned from Umno the month before.

       “Enough with the lies. The evidence is all there,” he said.

       Najib went on to claim in another Facebook post that Muhyiddin had a track record of being a traitor, saying that Muhyiddin had betrayed Dr Mahathir in the Sheraton Move by pulling Bersatu out of the Pakatan Harapan government and causing its collapse.
