KLUANG: Police have opened up an investigation following the death of a man whose charred remains were found inside a burning car near Jalan Renggam-Ulu Belitong, here.

       Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at 1am on Sunday (April 7).

       “Based on the victim’s brother-in-law's statement, the victim had gone out of the house at 11pm on Friday (April 6) and had not been informed where he was going.

       “The victim, identified as Shahrizan Jum, 34, was unemployed and is only taking care of his elderly parents, who are in their 60’s.

       “It is also revealed that the victim has never made any loans or issues with anyone,” he said in a statement.

       ACP Bahrin added that the car seat where the body was found was in a recline position and that the Fire and Rescue Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.

       The body has been brought to Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom for a postmortem. The case is being investigated as a sudden death report.

       Meanwhile, Renggam Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Nizar Mamun said that the vehicle was already 95% destroyed by the fire when the team arrived.
