TUNIS, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Tunisia is working to accelerate the implementation of its national reform program to boost economic growth, according to a statement released by the Prime Ministry on Sunday.

       A cabinet meeting chaired by Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden Romdhane was held on Saturday to review the progress made in the reform program.

       The reform is aimed at strengthening liquidity, facilitating companies' access to financing, revitalizing investment, easing the legal and regulatory framework of the business climate, and boosting exports, said the statement.

       It is noteworthy that the Tunisian government is seeking to negotiate with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a 4-billion-U.S. dollar loan to avoid bankruptcy.

       To unlock the IMF fund, Tunisia needs to implement deep reforms, including freezing wages, cutting energy and food subsidies, as well as privatizing some state-owned companies.
