The Mallorca Plaja Tour social media group, which previously held a small protest on Sa Rapita beach last Saturday, has announced its next protest for later this month.
The group says that the protest will be at Caló des Moro in Santanyi on 16th June from 8am to 1pm, under the slogan “Objective: Recover Caló des Moro”.
This follows annoyance at a statement by Manuela Canadas, a spokeswoman from the far-right party Vox, saying that Mallorcans cannot expect to go to beaches in July and August like they did in previous years.

She said in reference to the protest: “I understand the discontent but us Majorcans, who live directly or indirectly from tourism, cannot expect to go to the beach in July and August like we did years ago”.
"There are other more attractive destinations and we can end up going hungry because here there's a lack of jobs,” she added.
Mallorca Plaja Tour added: “Caló des Moro is a symbol of the overcrowding on our beaches, and that's why we have chosen it to go and have fun on Sunday, June 16”.
The group, however, has made it clear that they are protesting against overcrowding and the words of the Vox politician, not against tourists themselves.

Caló des Moro is one of Mallorca’s most beautiful beaches, situated in a deep bay and surrounded by sheer cliffs. With bright sand and turquoise waters, it is no surprise that the beach has become incredibly popular with tourists, bidding farewell to its previous nickname as one of Mallorca’s best kept secrets.
Last Saturday, many people huddled together as if on one towel, illustrating how busy Sa Rapita beach gets in the summer - with not even enough space to put out a towel. At the same time, protesters occupied the resort of Colonia De Sant Jordi, east of the capital Palma.
Mallorca Plaja Tour urged residents to reclaim the beaches from tourists under the hashtag “OcupemLesNostresPlatges” - translating to “Catalan for Occupy Our Beaches”.
The group wrote on X: “We invite all the residents who live near the beaches to go there to recover our beaches and enjoy them as before”.
