MELAKA: A 15-year-old tahfiz (Islamic religious school) student was killed along the North-South Expressway near Alor Gajah while riding a motorcycle to his hometown in Nilai, Negri Sembilan.
Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said the student is believed to have lost control of the machine along KM197.5 of the north-bound route at 8.20pm Friday.
“Based on our initial investigation, the student had taken the motorcycle belonging to his teacher, who is an ustaz, without his permission,” he said yesterday.
Supt Arshad said the student, from a tahfiz in Jasin, died at the scene of the accident due to severe injuries to his abdomen.
“The motorcycle was found in a monsoon drain along the expressway,” he said.
He identified the student as Muhammad Ashraf Abdullah from Taman Desa Jasmin, Bandar Baru Nilai.
“My men are still investigating the reason why the student had made a trip to his hometown without the permission of his school management,” he added.
