PETALING JAYA: It is not Pakatan Harapan’s priority at the moment to name a prime minister candidate or a poster boy for the 15th General Election, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Instead, their main priority was to get up close and help the people, said the Opposition leader in an interview with Malay daily Sinar Harian.
Anwar, however, admitted that he remained the sole candidate for the top post for the coalition.
“So far, I don’t see any changes (as to PH’s prime minister candidate). But I don’t think it is a priority because our priority is to get close and convince the people (to support) PH.
“(However) we can discuss (our prime minister candidate), that’s no issue to me. It’s just that it’s not the priority (right now) in my opinion.
“However, it’s generally known that PKR already knows its candidate. DAP has also announced theirs and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, in his conversation with me, has said there are no changes,” he said, referring to himself.
The Umno supreme council had recently announced that current Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was its candidate for the top post for the next general election, while Bersatu supreme council member Razali Idris said party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be the prime minister should Perikatan Nasional win the election.
