PETALING JAYA: A singer, who used to be a member of a Nasyid group, was detained in possession of ganja at his home.

       The 47-year-old male celebrity was detained by Petaling Jaya Narcotics Crime Investigation Division on Thursday (March 24).

       Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the suspect was detained at a condominium unit in Kota Damansara.

       "We discovered and seized a ganja plant, as well as cannabis.

       "The suspect will be remanded today at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court and we are investigating the case under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said, when met during the Police Day celebration at Petaling Jaya district police headquarters on Friday (March 25).

       A thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the celebrity's motive, ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin said.
