A 29-year-old woman was shot and killed early Sunday in the Takoma neighborhood of Northwest D.C., police said.

       Police went to the 6700 block of Fifth Street NW following a report of gunshots in the area and found the victim at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. D.C. police identified her as Dara Northern, of Northwest D.C.

       The D.C. fire department took her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

       Investigators say the fatal shooting occurred on the 6100 block of Fourth Street NW.

       Police are offering a $25,000 reward for information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of the assailant or assailants.
