A 66-YEAR-old woman had a surprise when she was given a food box from the Kelantan Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) and International Islamic Information and Dakwah Centre, reported Sinar Harian.

       Fang Lee Chou had earlier stopped by at a food distribution area for residents who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

       She asked the authorities there whether she was eligible to get the donation as most of the other recipients were Muslims.

       “I am a non-Muslim. But I am really having a difficult time. If it’s not possible, it is all right, I will go home, ” she said. To her surprise, she was given the donation.

       Fang thanked MAIK for the aid, saying that she understood now that MAIK would provide assistance for anyone.

       She said her husband had not worked for nearly two months due to the movement control order.

       “I was thinking very hard on how to get rice. We have children but we do not want to trouble them, ” she added.

       The boy had followed his father to bring their cow home when the incident happened at 6.40pm on Tuesday.

       Jeli OCPD Deputy Supt Ahmad Arifin said upon untying the rope that held the cow, the rope got caught around the boy’s leg.

       “The victim’s father tried to undo the rope but the cow was startled and ran off, dragging the boy for about 50m.

       “The boy was then brought to Jeli Hospital for treatment before he was pronounced dead, ” said DSP Ahmad.

       An autopsy found that the victim had died from internal bleeding caused by injuries to his head and body.
