PUTRAJAYA: Pakatan Harapan will have no issues supporting Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob's leadership if the Prime Minister implements policies that are "pro-rakyat" and geared towards solving Covid-19 issues.
The Pakatan chairman said the Opposition agreed that Covid-19 issues like unemployment and poverty should be the country's priority.
"We agree that cooling down the political temperature to focus on issues related to the pandemic is more pressing," said Anwar when met by reporters after an hour-long meeting with Ismail Sabri at the Prime Minister's office here on Wednesday (Aug 25).
Anwar also hinted at Pakatan's stand on the confidence vote for the Prime Minister if it is tabled in Parliament.
"If the situation is right and the programmes are people-centric, we will not make things difficult," said Anwar, when asked how the Opposition intends to vote.
Also at the meeting was DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu.
Anwar, who is also PKR president, said Pakatan did not lobby for any positions in Ismail Sabri's government.
"This did not arise. I also do not want this to be an issue. We did not come to ask for positions. Our issue is specific towards the economy, rakyat and Covid-19," he said.
