DAR ES SALAAM, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania plans to introduce tax incentives to attract more investment in the mining sector, Minerals Minister Doto Biteko said on Friday.
Measures to introduce tax incentives will be introduced against the backdrop of rising demand for rare minerals in the technology industry, the minister told lawmakers in the capital, Dodoma, when he tabled his ministry's budget proposals for the 2022/2023 financial year, which begins on July 1.
Biteko said development in technology has led to increased demand for various minerals, including graphite, cobalt and nickel.
In 2021, the mining sector contributed to 45.9 percent of Tanzania's total export value, the minister said.
