KUALA LUMPUR: The police have closed Jalan Kinabalu here to traffic coming from Cheras after a sinkhole appeared in the middle of the road.
Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said the road was closed at 10.30am Tuesday (Jan 4) to all vehicles.
Motorists coming from Jalan Kuching will be diverted from the Dato Onn roundabout to Jalan Raja Laut, while motorists coming from Jalan Tun Perak will be diverted to Jalan Kuching and the Segambut roundabout and Jalan Parlimen.
A slip road from Jalan Kinabalu heading to Masjid Negara has been closed and vehicles are being diverted towards Dataran Merdeka.
Motorists are advised to be cautious while in the vicinity and are advised to plan their trip if going to the city centre.
A Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) spokesman said that work to repair the hole has already started and would take a few days to complete.
