KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 2,236 case items worth about RM150,000 were disposed of by the Cheras police.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the items were from cases in 86 investigation papers.
“The items were from cases involving prostitution, illegal gambling and smuggling of cigarettes for 2019 and 2020.
“The items were destroyed in accordance with Section 407a (2) of the Criminal Procedure Code,” he told reporters during the ceremony at the Alam Damai beat base yesterday.
Cheras police, he added, would continue to combat crimes in the district, especially those involving prostitution and illegal gambling.
“We appreciate the public assistance in relaying the relevant information to the police.
“We hope that those with information on any criminal activity will contact the police as soon as possible,” he said.
ACP Muhammad Idzam said the police’s priority was ensuring public safety and security.
“We will step up operations in the district. Our men and women at the district are committed towards curbing crime,” he said.
