KUALA LUMPUR: Flash floods and uprooted trees have been reported in several areas of Cheras on Monday (March 7) evening.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said floods had affected several areas including near Sunway Velocity Mall, Jalan Tasek Selatan, the Kesas Highway (near Awan Naik), the road near Bukit Jalil police station, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Salak Selatan, Bukit Jalil Highway and MRR2 near Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS).
"We also received reports of cars being trapped in flood waters," he said when contacted.
Several trees were uprooted at Bandar Sri Permaisuri and the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (HCTM) parking lot due to the downpour and storm, he said.
"At HCTM, four trees fell on 24 vehicles in the parking area.
"Authorities are working to remove the trees," he said.
ACP Muhammad Idzam advised the public to remain indoors given the current situation.
"Many roads are congested, so I advise people to remain in their homes or offices for the time being," he said.
