KUALA LUMPUR: A few areas in the city here, including Jalan Cheras, are experiencing heavy rain on Tuesday (March 8) with flash floods developing.

       The Kuala Lumpur Information Department said via Twitter that areas including Jalan Cheras in front of EkoCheras Mall (from Kajang to city centre), and Jalan Yaacob Latif are affected.

       Traffic flow in Jalan Cheras is disrupted, with flood water reaching knee level.

       Other areas include Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Kinabalu and Bulatan Hishamuddin but these roads are still passable.

       On Monday (March 7), traffic was brought to a halt after a massive deluge in the city centre.

       The KL Fire and Rescue Department said the city's drainage system was unable to cope with the volume of water during the two-hour downpour.

       According to a report by the Meteorological Department, 106mm of rain was recorded, more than half of the monthly average of 208mm.
