PETALING JAYA: There will be no compromise on bullying, says Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid (pic).

The Rural Development Minister said the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) would conduct a detailed investigation into the viral video of a bullying incident where a student was seen in several clips taking punches from his peers.

The incident is believed to have occurred at a boarding school, which falls under the ministry's purview in Kuala Kangsar.

“Mara views the matter seriously. Strict action will be taken against those involved based on the existing provisions and rules at the Mara management level, if the video is authentic,” he was quoted by Kosmo on Friday (Dec 10).

Mahdzir said Mara would not give room for any action or misconduct that violates the ethics of humanity.

He added that they would not compromise against those who commit misconduct or acts that violate the laws, rules and ethics within their premises.

A student, believed to be one of the perpetrators involved in the bullying incident, pleaded for forgiveness from the victim’s family and requested the parents not to lodge a police report.

“We deeply apologise, especially to you (the victim), parents (of the victim) and everyone.

“We realise that what we did was very wrong.

“To you (the victim), I want to apologise for embarrassing and recording the incident. I really hope you won’t lodge a police report; you are our only hope,” the alleged perpetrator said in a WhatsApp screengrab, reports Utusan Malaysia.
