KUALA LUMPUR: The police are investigating a birthday party at a bar in Bukit Bintang for possible standard operating procedure (SOP) violations.
This comes after a one-minute video of the incident was uploaded on Twitter.
The video shows a group of individuals celebrating a birthday, and throughout the video, people can be seen not observing physical distancing and dancing.
The video also ends with them singing Happy Birthday while sitting close to each other.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said police had opened an investigation into the incident.
“We studied the video clip that was shared on social media, which shows a group of people having social activities that made it difficult to observe physical distancing.
“We have opened an investigation under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act and Rule 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations,” he said in a statement yesterday.
ACP Noor Dellhan said so far, four individuals had been called to have their statements recorded at the Dang Wangi police headquarters.
“The investigation papers will be handed over to the deputy public prosecutor for further instruction.
“We urge anyone with information on any SOP violation to contact the Dang Wangi police at 03-2600 2222 and the city police hotline at 03-2115 9999,” he added.
