PETALING JAYA: The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) has warned the public to be cautious after several locations were inundated following flash floods on Monday (March 7).
Nadma said that floodwaters were rising around the Dang Wangi police station, including the areas in Jalan Sultan Ismail/Jalan Ampang, Jalan Leboh Ampang, Jalan Raja Laut (Sogo /Pertama) and Jalan Kia Peng/Jalan Raja Chulan.
It added that Sungai Gombak at Jalan Tun Razak went beyond the danger level, while other rivers, including the Sentul-Sg Batu, Jambatan Sulaiman-Sg Klang, Lebuh Pasar-Sg Klang and Jalan Parlimen-Sg Gombak were at the warning level.
"Nadma would like to remind the public to take precautionary measures, to be aware of the surroundings, and to ensure safety during the floods," it said in its Facebook post Monday (March 7).
It also noted that the Malaysian Meteorological Department had issued a thunderstorm warning at 1.35pm in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and several parts of Selangor (including Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, and Sepang).
The heavy rain on Monday afternoon saw flash floods in several locations around Klang Valley, bringing traffic to a standstill as vehicles were submerged in the flood waters.
