KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow on several major highways was slow as the Hari Raya holidays came to an end.
The weekend also coincided with the celebration of several major festivals for the Indian, Sikh and local Thai communities.
A Malaysian Highway Authority spokesman said the high volume of vehicles on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the East Coast Expressway Phase Two (LPT2) caused congestion along several stretches.
He said that on the LPT2, traffic was moving slowly from Bukit Besi to Paka and at the Kuala Terengganu Toll Plaza exit.
“On the PLUS highway, congestion was reported northbound from Kulai towards Sedenak, from Bukit Gambir to Bemban layby, from Pedas Linggi towards Port Dickson, and from Bandar Ainsdale to the Seremban rest and recreation area,” he said when contacted by Bernama.
The official PLUS Traffic X account reported an accident at KM135.5 southbound from Pagoh to Yong Peng (U), causing a crawl. Also congested was the stretch between Kepala Batas and Hutan Kampung.
