PUTRAJAYA: The National Council of Professors (MPN) has introduced a brain-gain programme for the Malaysian diaspora to enable them to serve the country, says Council president Datuk Dr Raduan Che Rose(pic).
He said many Malaysians have migrated overseas to gain knowledge and seek better opportunities, and the programme was a special framework to unite them under one platform so that they could play a role in the country's development.
"MPN will provide a database on our local talents abroad so we can communicate with them virtually,” he told reporters after the MPN roundtable discussion on Keluarga Malaysia here on Tuesday (June 7).
According to media reports, Malaysia lost about 500,000 highly skilled and talented citizens in the professional fields after they chose to serve in foreign countries.
The report, among others, also proposed that the government establish a diaspora body to gather local experts who are currently serving abroad. - Bernama
