KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh is now Kuala Lumpur-bound.

In a post on Facebook late Saturday (April 6) morning, he shared a photo of him at the Kota Kinabalu airport which he captioned "Kuala Lumpur kami datang" indicating he was heading to the capital.

He is being investigated for sedition after two police reports were lodged against him.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said Dr Muhamad Akmal was detained upon his arrival at Kota Kinabalu International Airport on Friday (April 5).

“He was detained and taken to Kota Kinabalu police headquarters so that investigators could take his statement.

“We received two police reports so far pertaining to his speech on the socks sold by KK Super Mart,” he said.

The IGP said the case was classified under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities.

It was reported that Dr Muhamad Akmal was in Sabah to attend Umno’s Kembara Ramadan programme in Beaufort when he was brought to the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters upon his arrival at the airport.

That came following criticisms of Dr Muhammad Akmal, who had been calling for action and boycott against KK Super Mart over the socks issue after a picture was uploaded on social media showing him wielding a sword.
