IPOH: There needs to be a better way to deal with the stray dog problem without harming them, says Malim Nawar Perak Youth Assembly representative Wong Chin Ho.

       He said the state government could neuter or spay them.

       "Local council could also put up notices in the area where they are holding dog-catching operations to alert owners," he said.

       Wong, who is Perak MCA executive secretary, was commenting an incident where Kampar District Council enforcement officers shot dead four dogs during a dog-catching exercise on Tuesday (Nov 2), which caused an uproar among animal lovers.

       Wong said the youth of today are very focused on humanities and care about animal rights.

       "Following the incident, I have received a lot of messages on my social media from university students and voicing their unhappiness.

       "I hope the state government will also consider their feelings to ensure the youth will also be with them (the government)," he said.
